The SAY Campaign

The Shelter A Youth (SAY) Campaign raises funds and community support for our on-site emergency shelter, Providing A Roof (PAR).

Providing A Roof (PAR) is our onsite, 18 bed, co-ed, emergency shelter, serving youth aged 16 to 25. All those residing in PAR are assigned a primary worker who assists them in finding safe and secure housing. Youth are encouraged to set both short and long term goals while transitioning out of shelter. They may remain in PAR as long as their individual circumstance requires and are privy to all our services and supports while there, including essential item distribution, weekly food hampers, programming, and more. What Is An Emergency Shelter?

Emergency shelters provide a safe place for people to stay while they work to find stable housing. They also serve as areas to escape extreme whether.

No young person can be expected to tackle the issues that lead them to the street on their own, let alone while struggling to find a safe place to sleep. While emergency shelters will always be necessary in crisis, preventing people from becoming homeless and rehousing those already homeless must be the new path we forge in supports for those experiencing homelessness, regardless of age.

The youth we support face complex barriers and wide-spread stigma. Unlike their adult counterparts, youth experiencing homelessness simply do not have the housing history, financial knowledge, and life skills to navigate the increasing difficulties of the housing market. While residing in shelter, youth are assigned a primary worker who assists them in finding safe and secure housing. Youth in PAR also have access to our vast array of programming, including The Streets to Employment & Education (SEE) Program where they can advance their employable skills; developing their knowledge of resume writing, budgeting, etc.

How Our Shelter Helps

Accessible emergency shelters offer people the refuge they need to get out of ‘survival mode.’ In efforts to meet our objective of ‘maintaining the health and safety of the youth we serve,’ we provide resources and services to those accessing our shelter, enabling them to make positive choices to end the cycle of homelessness.

Why Donate?

While our supportive housing building, Next Steps Housing, offers secure housing opportunities for youth to transition to independent living, PAR offers immediate refuge to those who need it.

Consider donating to PAR and help out those with an immediate need for a safe place to sleep.
