Trick or treat!? This spooky season staff are dressed up for Halloween and youth will be voting on the best costume.

We also hosted a pumpkin carving event for the youth. This programming was made possible through the generosity of Lois S., Linda L. and family/friends. Special thanks to Linda and her granddaughters for putting together these festive gift bags filled with treats.

HHTH 10th annual hockey tournament

The 10th Annual Hockey Helps the Homeless Tournament was really one for the record books!

Youth accessing oneROOF Youth Services volunteered to make muffins and those in our Street To Employment & Education (SEE) Program created these commemorative buttons for the event.

In the end, Hockey Helps The Homeless Waterloo Region (HHTHWR) reached their goal of raising $300,000 for the six local charities they support (oneROOF Youth Services, House of Friendship, The Working Centre, Lutherwood Housing Services, YWCA KW, and Cambridge Shelter Corporation)

2024 REALTOR® Run

REALTOR® Run hosted by the Waterloo Region Association of REALTORS®, aims to feature the best of Waterloo Region and surrounding areas all while raising funds and awareness for this year's chosen charity oneROOF Youth Services. This event takes place during the week of May 2nd - May 8th and we are inviting you to walk or run 5 kilometers in your favorite area.

HHTH Fundraiser: country music night

We had an incredible time at Country Music Night! Thank you to Hockey Helps the Homeless - Waterloo Region (HHTHWR), Maxwell's Concerts & Events, and Serenia Life Financial. Special thanks to all the organizers and volunteers who made this incredible night happen!

We are so grateful to HHTHWR for not only the funds raised, but the awareness and further generosity these events inspire. Thank you to all involved in this season's events.

Looking forward to next weeks 10th Annual HHTHWR Hockey Tournament. See you at the rink!

 

Canada day olympics

We celebrated Canada Day outside this July! Youth and staff gathered at The Quad for games and fun.

Our "Olympic Games" included basketball, volleyball, badminton, potato sack races, water bucket relays, and more. There was food, prizes, and smiles all around! A few staff even got ice bucket dumped at the end of the day.

Thank you to all the staff and volunteers who made this event possible. What a wonderful day!

Pride month event: rainbow dress date

We hosted a Rainbow Dress Day in honour of #PrideMonth!

Youth and staff were encouraged to wear an outfit inspired by the colours of the rainbow. A dedicated rack in Change4Change allowed interested youth to choose items to complete their rainbow outfits. Our Drop-In and Next Steps Housing staff even handed out sweet treats to participating youth. This event is meant to foster connection and encourage everyone to express themselves. It was great to see so many people getting involved!

Introducing #YouthWeek2023! Youth Week is a collection of events in support of oneROOF Youth Services, spanning the first week of May each year.

May 1st-7th, 2023 is #NationalYouthWeek, a time dedicated to the encouragement and celebration of young people. We're hosting a series of awareness events and fundraisers to celebrate, culminating in a public vendor market, Saturday, May 6th, 2023. Learn more here.

Canadian Safety Supplies is one of the largest manufacturers and distributors of first aid kits in Canada. LGBTQ2S+ ally education

Our Host Homes program recently partnered with SPECTRUM to provide LGBTQ2S+ training to our host home volunteers, through their Rainbow Diversity Program. ⁠

SPECTRUM’s Rainbow Diversity Training is a service that helps organizations along the path toward becoming more equitable and accessible to persons of all sexual and gender diversities, both to clients and employees of the organization. The training covers topics around gender, sexuality, the challenges LGBTQ2S+ youth face and how to be a better ally. ⁠

SUPPORTIVE HOUSING BUILD WELCOMES YOUTH!

We are overjoyed to share that we have begun to move youth into our Supportive Housing Building! 🎉 ⁠

Our Supportive Housing program, Next Steps Housing is in full swing as we welcome our first group tenants into their units. Now housed, these young people can begin to move along the path to independent living with the help of 24/7 staff support and coordinated onsite services. Another large group of youth is set to move in next week. ⁠

HOST HOMES PROGRAM recognized WORLD WIDE!

Our Host Homes Program is making history! 🎉 ⁠

As a result of a recent evaluation by the Canadian Observatory on Homelessness, our Host Homes program is now being recognized worldwide as a Best Preventative Practice!

We have received many calls from organizations across Canada and around the world, wanting to integrate the Host Homes Model into their communities. We are extremely excited to provide resources and insights to assist in the expansion of the Host Homes approach in other areas of the world. ⁠

We're truly overjoyed at this news! It is an accomplishment that will go down in oneROOF Youth Services history.⁠

THirD VENDOR FAIR SET TO HAPPEN THIS MAY

After the success of our 2021 Virtual Vendor Fairs, we are excited to announce that we will be hosting a third vendor event this spring!

The oneROOF Youth Services Virtual Vendor Fair: Spring Market will be held 100% online, May 2nd - May 8th 2022. We are currently accepting vendor applications and welcome all local entrepreneurs, small businesses, and independent artists to participate. There is no vendor fee involved; instead, each participating business will pledge a percentage of their sales during event week to oneROOF Youth Services… The event is only as successful as it’s participants!

Our 2021 Virtual Vendor Fairs made a combined total of over $9000 and we hope to keep that energy up throughout this years event(s). If you wish to participate, please contact Bonnie at funddeveloper@oneroof.org

The Orange Door Project fundraising campaign Winter 2021 was a huge success.

The Home Depot team at 100 Gateway Park Dr. Kitchener continues to support in-store fundraising because they believe in the mission to prevent and end youth homelessness in Waterloo Region.
